Scrap Town

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Scrap Town needs no account and shows no ads. Your progress, including your character’s name, stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account. We do not collect it.

1. Scope and developer

This policy applies to the Scrap Town iOS game (Hurda Kasabası in Turkish), provided by Yasin Şimşek under the Genlumio name. It explains how the game handles information, what Apple’s iCloud and Game Center services do when you use them, visits to this website, and support requests you choose to send us.

2. Information stored on your device

Scrap Town does not require an account, does not ask for your email address, and contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking tools. When you start a game, you choose a look and type a name for your in-game character; a nickname works just as well, and you do not need to use your real name. We do not operate a server for the game, and the game does not send your progress to us. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.

To run the game, the following is stored in the app’s local storage on your device:

  • Game progress: up to three save slots with your level, coins, upgrades, crew, town, orders, tutorial and notebook progress, and a random game identifier the app creates to tell saves apart. This identifier is not linked to you, your Apple Account, or your device.
  • Your character: the name and look you choose for your character, saved with that save slot. The game uses the name only on your screen, for example when Grandpa speaks to you. It is not sent to us, not shown to other players, and not submitted to Game Center. You can change it in the game’s Settings from the main menu.
  • Times: when you last played and when orders and trucks finish, used to calculate what your yard produced while you were away and your weekly earnings.
  • Backup copies: if a save cannot be read or is replaced by a copy from another device, up to five earlier copies per slot are kept on this device only.
  • Preferences: your sound effects, music, and haptics settings. These stay on this device and are not synced.
  • Music cache: the game’s music is generated on your device and cached so it starts faster next time. It contains no personal information.

3. iCloud save sync

If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is enabled for the game, your save slots are synced through Apple’s iCloud key-value storage to your other devices signed in with the same Apple Account. Backup copies and preferences are not synced. The Settings screen in the game shows whether iCloud sync is on.

This data is stored in your own iCloud account. We cannot see or access it. Apple processes it under Apple’s Privacy Policy. You can stop syncing in your device’s iCloud settings; the game then keeps your saves on the device only.

4. Game Center weekly ranking

If you are signed in to Game Center, the game submits your earnings for the current week to the Game Center weekly ranking. Game Center is Apple’s service: Apple handles sign-in and shows your Game Center nickname and score to other players according to your Game Center settings. Apple may show its own sign-in screen when you open the game’s menu.

We do not receive your Apple Account email address or contact details through Game Center. Like any other player, we can see the ranking as Game Center displays it. You can change your Game Center nickname, profile privacy, or sign out in your device’s Settings under Game Center. If you are not signed in, nothing is submitted and the game works the same way.

The Privacy Policy and Support buttons in the game’s Settings open this website in your browser. Apart from iCloud and Game Center described above, the game makes no network requests.

Depending on your device’s analytics sharing preferences, Apple may provide developers with aggregated usage information and crash reports. This is separate from an analytics tool embedded in the game; Scrap Town has none. See Apple’s App Analytics & Privacy notice for details and available controls.

6. Retention and deletion

Local game data stays on your device until you delete it in the game or delete the app.

  • Delete a save slot: in the main menu, open Saves, tap the trash icon next to the slot, and choose Delete save in the confirmation window. The slot is replaced with an empty save on this device and in iCloud, so your other devices do not bring it back.
  • Start over in the current slot: use Reset progress in the game’s Settings.
  • Delete all local data: delete the app from your device. This also removes backup copies. Offload App may keep the app’s data.

Deleting the app does not remove the copy in your iCloud account; reinstalling the game brings your progress back. To remove it, delete the save slot in the game before deleting the app. Game Center scores are kept by Apple under its own policies.

As the developer, we cannot access or remotely erase the data on your device or in your iCloud account, and we cannot recover deleted progress.

7. When you contact support

If you email us, we process your email address, message, and any attachments you voluntarily provide to respond to your request and resolve the issue. Please avoid sharing personal information that is not needed for your request.

Our email service provider may transmit and store this correspondence. We retain it only as long as needed to handle your request, complete related follow-up, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not add you to a marketing list. You can request deletion using the contact address below.

8. When you visit this website

These static pages do not use cookies, analytics scripts, advertising pixels, contact forms, or third-party fonts. However, the hosting provider may process standard server logs, such as your IP address, requested page, access time, and browser information, to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. Retention of these logs depends on the provider’s service settings and policies.

9. Children

Scrap Town is suitable for all ages. The only thing the game asks for is a name for the player’s character, and the screen notes that a nickname works too. That name stays in the player’s saves on the device and in their own iCloud account; we never receive it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. iCloud and Game Center are Apple services; parents can manage them with Screen Time and Family Sharing. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through a support message, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

10. Your choices and rights

You can turn iCloud sync and Game Center on or off, delete save slots, and delete the app at any time. Depending on the law applicable where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, restrict or object to processing, and contact the relevant data protection authority. The only personal information we may hold is support correspondence you send us. Contact us to make a request. We will not ask for more identification information than is necessary to respond.

11. Changes to this policy

If the game or our data practices change, we will update this policy and the date above. Where required, we will also notify you of material changes in the game and request the relevant permissions.
